Countryside Harvest Festival: Kuk Po 'Sound-Sight-Taste Fusion' Tour
The Countryside Conservation Office (CCO) under the Environment and Ecology Bureau (EEB) will host the Festival in Kuk Po Village, Sha Tau Kok, on the weekends of January 18 and 19 and January 25 and 26. The Festival is the first of its kind in Kuk Po that combines village cultural characteristics, music performances, art exhibition and traditional food. It seeks to provide participants with new in-depth tour experiences, enhance public awareness of nature conservation, and promote urban-rural symbiosis.
All events under the Festival are free of charge. To make it easier for visitors to join the event, free boat services will be provided by CCO on designated event days, shuttling between Sha Tau Kok and Kuk Po. Government establishes Expert Group on Conservation for Sha Lo Tung
The Environment and Ecology Bureau established the Expert Group on Conservation for Sha Lo Tung on 1 March 2024.
Members of the Expert Group are appointed by the Secretary for Environment and Ecology, with Professor Lam Kin-che as the convener. The members include experts and scholars from fields of nature conservation or related sectors involved in promoting conservation work, as well as representatives of the relevant government bureau and department. The membership list of the Expert Group is set out here. The work of the Expert Group includes assisting the Government in mapping out the long-term strategies for conservation of ecology and biodiversity in Sha Lo Tung, advising the Government on measures to promote scientific research and eco-recreation in Sha Lo Tung, and steering the implementation of conservation studies and projects carried out in Sha Lo Tung.

"Third Party Certification” for the Use of the Existing Septic Tank and Soakaway System in Guesthouse and Food Business Premises
"Third Party Certification” in the checking of existing Septic Tank and Soakaway System (STS) has been in place with immediate effect to facilitate guesthouse and food business licence application in the remote countryside areas. The Authorized Persons is allowed to ascertain the existing STS is in good working order in terms of its performance and capacity for the purpose of satisfying the licensing requirements of the relevant authorities.
