Objective

Understand the concept and importance of sustainable development, so as to promote sustainable development proactively.

Programme Content

Schools are welcome to choose one or more of the following activities: interactive drama, seminar and workshop.

 1 Interactive Drama
 

Through an interactive modality, the drama introduces students to the concept of sustainable living, and the relationship between sustainable development and the environment, society and economy. The interactive drama adopts a new theme every year to convey the idea of sustainable development, and has consistently received positive responses from teachers and students. The theme of drama is “Nature Conservation and Biodiversity” for this school year, in the hope of promoting the concepts of ecological balance and environmental care to students in a light-hearted manner.

The drama performance lasts for about 50 minutes, and the suggested number of participating students should not be less than 120 (The drama will be conducted in Cantonese).

  2 Seminar
 

The sustainability issues such as environmental protection, climate change and natural resources have already been covered in the Geography and the Citizenship and Social Development curriculum in secondary schools. The seminars seek to align with the school curriculum to deepen students’ understanding of relevant topics such as marine parks, water resources and waste disposal.

The seminars explain sustainable development related topics to students in a vivid way, and interactively present global or local examples and topical issues. The seminar lasts for about 45-60 minutes (depending on the topics), and the suggested number of participating students should not be less than 120. 

There are 12 topics for selection in this school year. Please refer to Appendix 1 for details.

 3 Workshops
 

The workshop is carried out in a field trip approach combined with topic discussion, with a view to encouraging cross-disciplinary active learning by students and establishing sustainable development values. The workshop provides the following two options for selection (choose either one option).

Option 1: Consists of one field trip session (around 1.5 hours) and one topic discussion session (1 hour). There are 4 topics for selection. Please refer to Appendix 2 for details.
Field trip Topic discussion
Students can learn the concept of sustainable development in depth and broaden their horizons by visiting the exploration sites and experiencing technologies related to sustainable development. Students can deepen their understanding of different topics from social, economic and environmental perspectives through discussion, sharing and presentation.

 

Option 2: Consists of one free field trip programme and/or one subsidised field trip programme. The field trip lasts for about 1-3 hours (depending on the topics). There are 14 free and 2 subsidised programmes for selection. Please refer to Appendix 3 for details.

 3 Field Trips
 

Students will learn and experience the application of sustainable development through guided field trips. The exploration sites are diverse, including 13 free and 2 subsidised programmes for selection (each school is welcome to join 1 free field trip and/or 1 subsidised field trip). The field trip lasts for about 1-3 hours (depending on the topics). Please refer to Appendix 2 for details.


Participating schools need to arrange transportation themselves and have school teacher(s) accompanying their students.
