Less-Salt-and-Sugar School Lunch Box Cooking Competition

The former Food and Health Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food in collaboration with the International Culinary Institute (ICI), Chinese Culinary Institute and Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Kwai Chung), successfully organized the Less-Salt-and-Sugar School Lunch Box Cooking Competition in ICI on 25 June 2022.

The Competition included the Chinese cuisine and Western cuisine lunch box groups, the participating entries were first designed by students of the Health and Life Sciences in each team and cooked by teammates studying in the culinary institute. The students demonstrated their strengths and worked together to design and cook healthy and delicious less-salt-and-sugar lunch boxes. The award winning entries will be shared with school lunch box suppliers, hoping they can offer more healthy lunch box choices for school students across the city.

Chinese Cuisine Lunch Box Group


Winner : Stir-fried Chicken Fillet with Assorted Vegetables


First Runner-up : Chinese Herbal Chicken


Second Runner-up : Crispy Chicken Hash Browns with Tomato Sauce with Soft Roasted Pumpkin and Broccoli Fried Rice

 

Western Cuisine Lunch Box Group


Winner : Rhapsody in Chimato


First Runner-up : Pumpkin Chicken Breast with Mushroom Fettuccine


Second Runner-up : Tomatoes curry with Chicken meat ball
