Anti-Rodent Work Plan Undertaken by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department

Anti-rodent-Action

The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) proactively supports the “Cross-sectoral Territory-wide Anti-rodent Action” in country park and marine park areas, nature parks and reserves, wholesale markets, animal management centres, etc. by adopting various measures, including regular inspections, baiting, removal of harbourage and proper handling of site waste. AFCD continues to engage our staff, contractors, tenants and other stakeholders to carry out appropriate site rodent preventive measures with reference to the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department’s Code of Practice for Rodent Management and other relevant guidelines.

To further strengthen our rodent control work, new anti-rodent methods and technology, including the application of thermal imaging camera system for rodent monitoring, T-shape rodent bait boxes, traps with carbon dioxide canister, etc. have been on trial. In addition, AFCD will actively review our venue management and closely monitor the effectiveness of rodent control measures through internal auditing and reporting. Publicity and education campaigns will also be stepped up to promote the importance of rodent prevention and control work.
